"I have had State Farm insurance (auto and homeowners) since 1985. I've only had one auto claim in that period of time and I have a clean driving record and a pristine credit rating. Recently, my home in Texas suffered some damage to the roof, guttering and fence. State Farm sent their adjuster out to assess the damage and State Farm sent me a check out for 15K, via snailmail, to pay for the damages. Surprisingly, this check was made out to not only me, but to the WRONG MORTGAGE HOLDER!! When both my wife and I attempted to contact SF, via their claim numbers we were given, we experienced a huge runaround of automated services that failed to connect us to an agent, and that eventually hung up on us. Our local agent was of NO HELP to us, only giving us these same DEAD END phone numbers. Meanwhile, the contractors who repaired our home were/have been patiently waiting to be paid, and we don't have this kind of money to be able to give them their money, to ensure that they get paid!! So this afternoon, I FINALLY reached a "real person" at the SF office (not our local agent). She told me that she would re-issue the payment check with my name and the correct mortgage holder's name, and mail out another check via SNAIL MAIL!! She absolutely refused to overnight mail it, despite the fact that this error was entirely THEIRS!! My wife and I are needing to head out of town the day after tomorrow and we'll be gone for about 10 days. When we do receive this check in the mail, we need to drive 50 miles to the nearest mortgage holder' office to get them to endorse this check. I am absolutely LIVID about the way SF has(n't) handled this claim!! When I return from out of town, it is my fervent intention to look and get another insurance company to handle my home and auto insurance needs. I've only ever had ONE claim (auto) in the entire time (40 years) I've been with SF. I am just shocked and profoundly disappointed in the way SF has failed me and embarrassed me with their lack of diligence, concern and attention to my claim and this situation. Incidentally, my contractor and I were needing to urgently speak to Naomi in Kalynn Tindall's office this afternoon, and we were told that she was on another line and would return our call. Well, here we are, at nearly 6 pm, and we have received NO call back from Naomi (who is aware of this situation and knows what is going on). Is this really how Ms. Tindall treats her clients and people who rely on her office for their help?? If this is how SF calls themselves a "Good Neighbor", then I need NEW NEIGHBORS!!! I need another insurance company ASAP, and I WILL get one!!!"
"We’re truly sorry to hear about your frustration with the claims process. We completely understand how upsetting and stressful these situations can be, especially when delays or errors are involved. That said, we’d like to take a moment to offer some clarity. Our local office does not have any control over claim decisions or the issuance of claim payments. It’s standard practice for mortgage companies to be listed on claim checks based on the check amount. We verified that the correct mortgage information was listed in your account on our end. Unfortunately, the claims department printed the wrong mortgagee—an error that was entirely out of our hands. The moment we became aware of the issue, we escalated it immediately. We worked directly with claims to get the check corrected and reissued properly. Throughout this process, we’ve remained communicative and proactive, doing everything within our ability to support you. You also came into our office, where we offered additional help and walked through the situation with you. At that time, you shared that you understood the situation, apologized for the frustration, and mentioned that you would consider removing the review. We appreciated that conversation and your willingness to work through it with us. We pride ourselves on being responsive, thorough, and supportive—especially during the moments our clients need us most. While we can’t control the actions or timelines of the claims department, we do take our role as your advocate seriously and will always go the extra mile to help resolve issues. We’ve done our best to keep you informed with accurate updates as soon as we received them. We’re committed to supporting you—not just when things go smoothly, but also when challenges arise. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to explain, and we’re still here if you need anything further."
